We made a water object for art. The back ground was splatter. To do the border we dabbed on the paint from light to dark. In the middle I drew goggles on black paper we used crayon. We tried to colour light and dark.

Postcard from a Raindrop!
Dear everyone
It has been a long time since I have caught up with everyone and it is time to let you know what I have been up to!
I remember dropping down from the sky in a big rainstorm. Luckily I did not land on the road or on the windscreen of a passing car. Fortunately I landed in a rock pool off Browns Bay. It was interesting to have some of my other buddies join me in the rock pool. Then I saw children looking down on me and that’s all I remember before my next adventure.
During my time as a solid I remember first falling down from the sky as snow and landing on an iceberg! It was very boring on the iceberg as it was cold and I didn’t move anywhere for a long time! The last thing I remember was seeing this huge cruise ship coming towards me. It didn’t turn and I didn’t think it was going to stop - It didn’t see me. I remember seeing the words Titanic!
Then I was lucky enough to be famous and part of a science experiment at Sunnybrae Normal School. I was in a shaded puddle and I saw a another puddle in the sun when I tried to say “hi” it was too late! People from Room 9 came out and crowded around me and my buddies. The teacher got a green chalk and drew around me and my buddies. After that the teacher went to do the same to the others in the other puddle. That's all I remember.

Our Science Topic
This week in science we did true and false qestions about water.
Something I believe about water is that the water in our drink bottle is as old as dinosaurs, because I read it in a book and saw it on the computer. -Mariah
This term in science we are learning about water. Something I believe about water is that 1 percent of the world's water is okay for drinking because our teacher reed this book called water and it said that fact.

More Learning From the Pacifica Experience
The necklace was hard to make. I had to ask a person for help and then I got the hang of it. -Angus
We learnt a dance. It was funny because we had to shake to one side. -Nina
At the Pacifica Centre we learned the different names for drums. The boys had to do crazy legs when we were dancing. -Deakyn
The weaving was fun and easy. We folded the flax across and then we folded the other side over. Millie asked me for help, and I only did two crosses for her. Then we went to the mama who used scissors to shred the ends. -Tina
At the Pacifica Centre we wove a necklace with flax. One of the people helped start mine. Then I did the rest. We did one bit at a time. My necklace is really cool. -Mariah
Seeing the umu was different to what I thought it was. It had bricks surrounding a hole. It was an unusual smell. - Alicia

Our Pacifica Experience
At the Pacifica Centre we were asked to share at least one thing we had learned before we closed our eyes that night.
This is what we wanted to share:
With weaving we went in and out. At first I didn't get it, but then I did. It was a lot of fun. -Caleb
I learnt how to weave a necklace out of flax. I only did the middle piece. A Pacific Mama did the top and bottom. It was hard at first but in the end I figured it out. -Georgia
We did a dance and learned how to play the drums. When I did a Pacifica dance we did crazy legs and then we turned around while we were doing the crazy legs. -Keanu
Seeing a real umu is amazing! It looked like bricks made into an enormous pot, stuck into the ground. The food was wrapped in tinfoil so dirt wouldn't get in. When we ate it, it wasn't burnt, so YUM! -Sophie
The umu looked very interesting because I've never eaten one before. The food was wrapped in tinfoil. There was chicken, potato, bread with butter, carrots, and coleslaw. My best food was chicken. -Sian
With weaving we had to go in and out. I only did the start, middle, and end. -Alfred

Family Traditions
Earlier in the term we read a big book called Friendly Families. We found out about some interesting family traditions.
We used Kid Pix to illustrate a statement about our own family traditions.
Have a look at our work in the slide show below...

Starting the Year
It's extraordinary to be in year four! Being in a new class is awesome because we get to do a lot of new things. We also get to play on the senior playground now. We can learn new things like swimming in the school pool.
Meeting a new teacher is exciting! It's cool to see our friends again and play with them. We can also make new friends. Now we are in Year four we are getting closer to Year 6!
